What Is Rat Infestation & Infestations

If you have ever had a rat infestation I bet you wished you were the Pied Piper. Remember the old cartoon with the man and his flute that led all the rats away from the town?  Unfortunately it is not that simple and you will have to rely on other ways to get rid of those furry pests.
Yes, they are annoying, but they are also a danger to you, your family, and any pets you may have.  The damage they can cause to your home may cost you a small fortune.  They can damage electrical wiring, chew through plumbing, eat walls, and use your insulation for nesting and their restroom area.  Rodents carry many diseases and will bite even when not provoked, thus making them extremely dangerous to children and pets.
To determine what kind of tools you will need for rat infestations, you will have to know your enemy.  There are many products out there that can aide you in the extermination of these pests.  There are mouse traps and poisons available to you in a variety of options.
There are signs to look for to see how bad of an issue you may have.  If you do not have a problem at this time, but would like to lessen the odds of having one, there are things you can do to prevent a future invasion.  Rodent problems do not normally start in your home.  You have to start by looking in your yard first.   Keep your yard well-manicured, and keep all trash stored tightly in proper receptacles. Repair any obvious entry points outside of your home, and if you want to go the extra mile, place some poison or traps safely out of reach of kids and animals.
